So, I think I’ve got a number of choices for making drawings, that is in terms of what I have ready access to. I am sure there are many more choices (e.g. collage). I’ve listed what these are below.
Materials
- Pencil
- Pen (and ink)
- Charcoal
- Pastels
Scale
- A5
- A4
- A3
- A1
I suppose I could do A2 too. Just looking at the above, I haven’t done anything in A3 yet – so that’s one to keep in mind but I guess it also depends on the subject and type of materials you are using.
Subject
There are an infinite number of subjects – but the kinds of subject I have tended to draw so far on the course are:
- room corners
- every day objects
- fruit
- hands
- figure / face (my wife)
My figure and face drawings I haven’t posted here. I am not very satisfied with these yet but will start posting these when I feel I am making some progress.
I’d like to get out and about in Birmingham and draw various bits of the city as there are some really interesting things going on visually. But that is going to take some courage, and for the moment I’m getting all the practice I can get in doors. It also relies on dry weather.
