Here is a tonal study I did last night. Again, I have used hatched lines to build up the shadows. The spines on the shell added an extra challenge and interest.
Sometimes there are parts of the shell that become swamped with dark tone, and I find this happens quite a lot with my drawings. I hope that with more practice I can keep my drawing reasonably subtle across the whole drawing and not overwork particular bits which are tricky.
