Figure drawing

Here is a drawing I did last Sunday. I’m quite pleased with the proportions of the figure and getting the right pose – it does feel like she is lying in the right way on the sofa. I also liked the use of light and dark contrast. There was a bright light shining from the right behind her head.

The sofa is not quite right though – the 2-point perspective is a bit over exaggerated and the overall shape is a bit wonky although at least I remembered to use two point perspective this time. I started with the figure and then drew the sofa around that so I was not perhaps focusing as much as I should have on the latter. I do like the pencil lines though on the cover draped in front of the reclining figure – the lines help to reinforce the sense of three dimensional shape of the front of the sofa – that goes right back to feedback I had from my tutor during the very first course unit.
